After the Big Bash League (Indian Premier League), Sri Lanka Premier League is going to create fun and pleasurable atmosphere throughout the world. SLPL (Sri Lanka Premier League) was delayed last year because of inadequate funds and unavailability of Indian players. No Indian players and English Players will take part in SLPL. It includes total seven provincial cricket teams that represent provinces of Sri Lanka. Nagenahira Nagas is among the 7 teams of SLPL, which represents Eastern Province. The city of the team is Trincomalee and the team has no Home ground. Shane Duff is the coach of the team.

The team is bought by Varun Beverages Lanka Private Limited for $3.22 million. It is the cheapest franchise in SLPL. For seven years, Varun Beverages Lanka Private Limited will be the owner of the team. Previously, Shahid Afridi was selected as a captain of the team but due to the lowest cost of the team he has moved to Ruhuna Rhinos. Currently, Angelo Mathews is the captain of the team. Lethal players such as Travis Birt, Imran Nazir and Ahmed Shehzad are there in the team. Angelo Mathews (Captain), TM Sampath, Sachith Pathirana and Angelo Perera are all-rounder players in the team.
